My parents, sister and I went to Han Chin Pet Soo Museum on Sunday, February 8th 2015.

Information on the museum

This museum used to be the home for the Hakka Miners’ Club since 1929. It is located in Jalan Bijeh Timah (Treacher Street), Ipoh. The club was founded by Leong Fee aka Liang pi Joo, in 1893. It is about 114 years old.It is opened for visitors from February 5th before the Chinese New Year. There is no entrance fee and you will need to book an appointment before you visit. It used to be a two-storey building but as years go by, they started to renovated into a three-storey for the building. There were many sponsors for this museum such as Kinta Properties, Tenby, IpohWorld ,etc. The floor tiles, walls and the furniture are the original ones and sometimes it needs to be rebuild or replace.

Rooms in the museum

  • Kitchen
  • 1920’s bedroom
  • Opium den
  • Dining table

  • Ipoh street
  • 1930’s bedroom

My opinion/views about the museum

I feel that many visitors should visit this museum because I learned a lot of history on the tin mining. The area of the museum that I love the most is the painting of the background of the tin mining, street and mannequins. There are  one or two narrators which can narrate or introduce you on the areas in the museum.
